Malaysia’s Industrial Production Index (IPI) grew by 5.8 per cent in February 2020 The Industrial Production Index (IPI) grew 5.8 per cent in February 2020 as compared with the same month of the previous year. The growth in February 2020 was driven by the increase of indices in all sectors, index of Electricity ( 6.8% ), index of Mining ( 6.1% ) and index of Manufacturing ( 5.6% ). On year-on-year basis, the Manufacturing sector output rose by 5.6 per cent in February 2020 after recording a growth of 2.2 per cent in January 2020. The major sub-sectors contributing to the increase in February 2020 were Petroleum, Chemical, Rubber and Plastic Products ( 6.3% ), Non-metallic Mineral Products, Basic Metal and Fabricated Metal Products ( 6.2% ) and Electrical and Electronics Products ( 5.1% ).
