Malaysia’s Industrial Production Index (IPI) slumped 32.0 per cent in April 2020 The Industrial Production Index (IPI) dropped 32.0 per cent in April 2020 as compared with the same month of the previous year due to the effect of Movement Control Order execution to prevent COVID-19 outbreaks. Deterioration of IPI in April 2020 was due to the significant declined in all indices; index of Manufacturing ( -37.2% ), index of Mining ( -19.6% ) and index of Electricity ( -19.2% ). The Manufacturing sector output in April 2020 contracted 37.2 per cent on year-on-year basis after recording 4.1 per cent decline in March 2020.
