Quarterly Construction Statistics, ST4 2019 was published on 10 February 2020   Malaysia’s construction sector recovered 1.3 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2019 The value of construction work done in the fourth quarter 2019 recovered by 1.3 per cent (Q3 2019: -0.6%) year-on-year basis, amounting to RM37.0 billion  (Q3 2019: RM36.1 billion). The Civil engineering sub-sector soared higher at 7.9 per cent in the fourth quarter 2019, followed by the Special trades activities sub-sector 3.8 per cent . Residential buildings sub-sector rose by 2.7 per cent after contracting since first quarter 2018. Meanwhile, the Non-residential buildings sub-sector declined by 10.3 per cent . The Civil engineering sub-sector remained dominant as the main contributor to the value of construction work done with  45.4 per cent share. Index Of Industrial Production and Monthly Manufacturing Statistics Malaysia December 2019 were published on 07 February 2020.  Malaysia’s Industrial Production Index (IPI) grew by 1.3 per cent in December 2019 The Industrial Production Index (IPI) grew by 1.3 per cent in December 2019 as compared with the same month of the previous year. The growth in December 2019 was driven by the increase in the index of Manufacturing ( 3.4% ) and Electricity ( 0.9% ). Meanwhile index of Mining recorded a decline of 4.9 per cent . On year-on-year basis, the Manufacturing sector output rose by 3.4 per cent in December 2019 after recording a growth of 2.7 per cent in November 2019. The major sub-sectors contributing to the increase in December 2019 were Non-metallic Mineral Products, Basic Metal and Fabricated Metal Products ( 4.6% ), Petroleum, Chemical, Rubber and Plastic Products ( 3.6% ) and Electrical and Electronics Products ( 3.1% ).
